Are Christians Smart? High IQs? (What the Bible Says)
The bible says Christians generally are not smart, when measured by worldly standards, such as IQ.
All we need to know to figure this out is a few verses in 1 Corinthians 1 in the bible:
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
26 "Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him."
So, you see, God didn't choose those who are smart in the world to become Christians. And these verses give the explanation why- so that no one can boast before him.
God didn't choose the geniuses in the world to be his people. They're too arrogant. They're already know-it-alls so God can't teach them. Instead, he chooses the simple, the unlearned, those who aren't smart, influential, or of noble birth to comprise his church. He choose the lowly, the despised things.
So again to answer the question, Christians are generally not people who have high IQs, as the bible states in the letter to the church in Corinth, Not many of you were wise by human standards.
However, Christians are called to be wise by God's standards which is studying and putting His Word into practice so that they can be pleasing unto God and thus inherit eternal salvation.
